Chandi Deitmer

Chandi Deitmer (she/her) is The Mind Company's Senior Puzzle Editor, creating puzzles for both the Elevate app (Apple's App of the Year Winner) and its newest app, Spark.

Chandi has written over 1,000 mini crosswords for the Elevate app, manages and co-writes the Daily Wordbend, and sinks her time into anything both word-y and nerd-y. Outside of The Mind Company, her crosswords have appeared in The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Los Angeles Times, Slate, USA Today, Universal, Apple News, The Atlantic, and numerous indie outlets. She especially loves writing Sunday puzzles.

Chandi has also sparked ideas for Spark since its inception, most notably creating the game Links. She brings to Spark her deep love of travel, animals, culinary exploration (read: eating any curry she can get her hands on), pop culture, and hair clips. She believes deeply and truly that everything is fun to learn.

Prior to The Mind Company, she was already deeply involved in mental wellness as a clinical social worker, counseling families of aging adults and individuals living with psychiatric illness. In her off-time, she wrote crosswords, and eventually transitioned to full-time puzzling when she joined The Mind Company in 2022.
